In order to find the best fit, it is necessary to understand the strengths and capabilities of potential partners.Evaluate the specialism and expertise of each partner, their potential influence on the project. Similarly, do they have weaknesses that could benefit from your strengths? Key considerations include:
- Capability. What skills and expertise do they have, relevant to your target audience and goals.
- Resources. What could they contribute in terms of financial, technical, material, and human resources. Beyond just financial value, partners also provide value through their human capacity or connections which could increase impact.
- Strengths and weaknesses. What are their strengths, and could you benefit from these? Could they benefit from your strengths? Reflect on findings of the Gap analysis to pinpoint opportunities.
- Reputation. Have you carried out due diligence to know they are credible? Impact. Can they help you achieve your project goals? And what can you help them achieve?
- Risks. Consider potential risks and challenges of partnering, including financial risks, operational disruptions, cultural mismatches, and reputational damage. You may want to classify risks to understand the nature and impact of each risk.
- Power dynamics. What is the organization's agenda? If ambiguous, further exploration is needed through your engagement with them.
- Gender inclusivity. Does the organization show willingness to embrace greater equity and inclusivity?
